I am a mum of 2 teenage girls. I have worked in financial services for the last 31 years, so I have a really good understanding of finances anything associated with this. Due to the amount of time I have been dealing with customers face to face, I like to think, I come across as professional, empathetic, approachable, flexible and above all, human! Theres not a lot I haven't come across in my time and I don't judge people on their backgrounds, lifestyle or situations.
Unfortunately, a history of domestic abuse, led me to filing for a divorce, non molestation order, occupancy order, financial remedies and child arrangement orders. So over the last few years I have researched extensively, and represented myself successfully. A lot of the time, it is breaking down each application into bite size pieces, which is where I can help, as when you are in the middle of everything, it seems overwhelming, however, in the cold light of day, everything has a set process and takes time. For example, all divorces are non-fault now. When you apply, the other party gets 14 days to respond, then there is a 20 week wait period (nearly 5 months) so my advice, is whilst you are waiting for this, is to start the child arrangements and financial applications, as you have time to then take all of these in whilst you are in the waiting period. Most courts are really busy too, so its unlikely that you will get a date immediately, which also gives you time to prepare for the next step. You have to be realistic and understand that you may not get your ideal outcome, as ultimately this lies in the hands of the courts most of the time, however, the best you can do is put together the best case possible.
As we are able to attend court, we have to keep it realistic on locations we cover. I am based in Tunbridge Wells and am happy to travel up to an hour and a half to court, so this would cover areas such as Kent, Essex, Sussex, London. However, if you are only looking for telephone or video calls to chat through scenarios, then I am happy to cover the wider area.
